Exams are over. Work has started to pick up pace with things starting to break down and deadlines for my paper submission drawing nearer (no i've not really started). On the bright side, i found a place that has nice pig trotters while shopping for items to repair my equipment along Kelantan Lane. The trotters are just HUGE and melts in your mouth.

So I've finally to get all the broken equips to work again (yeah~). Now its time to concentrate on the paper that is due in 2 weeks time. Argh, i've no mood to get started. So to cheer myself up, I've made myself a fruit platter. All for myself muahaha

Oh and another thing, SNOW LEOPARD is coming !! Im just waiting for it so that i can get a new laptop that runs the new OS... hurry...

Battlestar Galactica finale .. it's over =(

All good things must come to an end. Well, that goes for Battlestar Galactica (BSG) as well. After 2 tv movies, 4 seasons of bsg goodness, 3 webisode series (did i miss out anything ?), the story finally came to a close. I guess the ending was a bittersweet one, nonetheless it was a good one. However i do feel a pang of saddness when we finally say goodbye to all our favourite characters in the show. Now the only things to look forward to are :

The BSG tv movie that is coming soon called "The Plan" which will depict the destruction of humanity from a cylon point of view (instead of the human point of view as in the tv series)
The prequel of BSG - a new tv series called CAPRICA !!! The end of humanity has a beginning.

Fridays will never be the same again without good old BSG. No more suspense. No more waiting. No more holy frak! I'm so gonna QQ.

Midterm tests are finally over (for now). Mechanical properties midterm was a massacre. Left 32 marks undone (oh well). Presentations were done. Now its time to kick back and chill for a bit. Do some shopping, watch some movies and play some Kingdom Hearts Re Chains of Memories.

Oh yes, there are some movies these year that i really wanna catch in the year of 2009. The line up of movies this year looks definitely better than in 2008.

Its been a while

Been busy with both work and studies. Its been a mad rush since school started this january that i didn't really have time to sit down and blog. I really miss the days when i could still wake up in the morning of a weekday and walk around the neighborhood enjoying the peace and quietness. Play my PS2 from day to night. Try out some other weird salad or pasta dressing. Go strolling along orchard road or CBD area on a quiet weekday morning. Just kick back relax, read a book, drink some coffee, enjoy the cool morning breeze and worry about nothing. But all these seem quite impossible after i started working. How i miss those days (especially the 3 months of long long june holidays after my third year in NUS). Feeling rather nostalgic nowadays for some unknown reasons.

Guess i shall post more after my 2nd midterm test is over. Meanwhile, Battlestar Galactica, Dollhouse, Terminator the Sarah Conner Chronicles, and The big bang theory are my only source of fun peace laughter and joy. Sad but true.

Was at AFA08 and saw ichigo in hollow form doing a very weird dance (some people say its spastic lol). Didn't really know wat it was but it was quite amusing. Later i found out that it was the Hare Hare Yukai which was the dance Haruhi did at the ending credits of the anime "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya". Apparently the dance (and anime) is so popular that at every anime convention, some one or some groups of people will do it. So here i am watching haruhi due to curiosity. After watching 6 episodes of it, i now know why it is so popular. It is really an unusual anime but quite a funny one. I highly recommend it to everyone =)

I was never a big fan of concerts and stuff. Even the Jay Chou concert (my one and only concert) i went in 2002 didn't get me all that worked up. I just thought that it's pretty normal and wonder why so many ppl can be so crazy about it. But now, it's my time to get high. May'n, the voice behind the anime character Sheryl Nome's songs in the anime series Macross Frontier is coming to Singapore ! She will be performing in Anime Festival Asia '08 (her first performance out of Japan). Although i won't be getting the VIP pass to her mini concert, i am still going to watch it with the normal AFA'08 convention ticket. So excited. Anime Festival Asia '08 is also the first anime convention held in Singapore. Finally, something to look forward to =)

Many times when a friend or someone asked me what kind of music i like, i would tell them Electronica or Indie (independent) music. The first thing that came to their mind was "Oh so you like techno, trance and dance music ?" o.O"

Techno, Trance and House music can be considered a subset of Electronica but it is more than just those genres. Electronica includes a wide range of contemporary electronic music designed for a wide range of uses, including foreground listening, some forms of dancing, and background music for other activities; but unlike electronic dance music, it is not specifically made for dancing. The term was first used in the United States in the early 1990s with regards to post-rave global-influenced electronic dance music. Genres such as techno, drum and bass, downtempo, and ambient are among those encompassed by the umbrella term, entering the American mainstream from "alternative" or "underground" venues during the late 1990s. Prior to the adoption of electronica for this purpose, terms such as electronic listening music, and intelligent dance music (IDM) were used. Natalie Walker's sophomore album is out. Its titled "With You" and its even better than her debut solo album "Urban Angel", which is already excellent stuff. Its just a sad thing that Singapore don't sell it. Nowhere can the album be found in Singapore. Sigh. I bet most if not all of you have never heard of her, but if you do get a chance, go listen to her albums. I'm a fan of independent music coz i feel mainstream music just sucks, and its getting from ok to bad to worse, and yet people still say its nice. *shakes head* Plus the fact that independent artist do produce very very very good music. Its just that no one notices it.

Just finished reservist. It was an easy in-camp compared to the previous few ICTs. Range and cell drills. Caught up with some old army friends. Got marksman in this year's ICT and hurray $200. Been slacking at home and mostly playing WOW before that. Feeling quite down for many reasons some of which i dun even know. Oh well.... life sucks....

It's finally over. 4 years of NUS life went by in a flash. Now, its time to step into the working world. A junior asked if i had any regrets in my stay in NUS. Anything that i would have looked back and thought i could have done a better job. As a matter of fact, yes. There were lots of regrets and lots of disappointments. Somethings i wished i could have realised earlier. Things might not had been the same if i did. Oh yes, and there's the issue with my damn 2nd lower class honours. I wanted 2nd upper. But what's pass is pass, and i could only wish that everything would be as smooth sailing as possible from now on. Get a job, get some income, maybe do further studies, and we'll see how the rest goes.

There is a sudden void that had appeared in my life. The feeling of being suddenly dumped in this big big world. With no clear directions and no clue whatsoever. Its time to trial and error again. Fumbling through this big messy world. And yes, this is that damn bee.

I often envy the lives people have. Such carefree lives. No worries and dilemmas. Just moving ahead. To do what they want, be what they like and be able to strive for their personal interests. Never having to worry about money, taking care of the family and providing for the family. I too have dreams. But circumstances somehow prevents me from pursuing them like many of my peers are doing. I'm not blaming anyone. Just feel that sometimes, life is really unfair. Maybe i've yet to realize what i've gained from all this, but i do admit that the feeling sucks. Seeing everyone pursuing what they want, and yet i have to put all those on hold. That being said, i am not unwilling to do so. In fact, i feel that its something i have to do. So i guess i can only hope that things would get better from here onwards, especially after i start working. Maybe then, can i start to pursue my dreams and what i wanted to do.

Till then, happy new year to me, pls let things be better.

After all this while, i would have thought that things would be better. But i guessed i was wrong. Feeling keeps coming back and it gets worse with each wave. It's not easy to hang on, neither is it to let go. I can only thank those around me giving me support and strength. But ultimately, it is a path i have to walk alone. I'm quite sure it will be a path which i would lose in the end. But somehow, i just stubbornly refuse to let go. Grabbing on to whatever i can hold on to. Waiting for the day where i finally break...

STARDUST

Despite the impending doom of this semester's exams, i managed to squeeze out sometime to catch Stardust right before it stopped airing in the cinemas. Its was a damn right move. After all, i waited almost a year for this show, read the book, and no stupid exam is going to stop me. So Stardust is an excellent show. Albeit the movie omitted many details from the original book, it is still a pleasant surprise. All the performances are outstanding, the beautiful Claire Danes makes you love her in her portrayal of Yvaine the trusting naive star and Michelle Pfeiffer delivers a stellar over the top performance as Lamia. But the performance to talk about is Robert De Niro. In every scene that he is in hands down he steals the show. So Stardust is a movie that will make you want to watch it again and again after you stepped out the of the cinema. Too bad i only have time for once lol. But no matter what, it is a show that anyone should catch.

Sometimes during this process, it can bring about joys and smiles, and at other times, great sadness and disappointment. And yet, despite all the hurt and pain, that brief moment of happiness is all that is needed to fuel the wait. One might say that such a wait is pointless and a waste of time. But sometimes when what you truly desire is out of reach and the only means is to do so, would you? Even at the fact that what lies at the end of the journey might not be what you had anticipated, would you? Or the fact that it might not even be possible, would you? Sure it is disheartening most of the time. Sure there are times when you are torn between waiting and giving up. Sure you would have questioned the very reason to wait. But in the end, that hope, that spark, regardless how small it is, maybe all that is needed to push on, on this long and arduous journey...

I admit to having a very non-mainstream taste in music. Partially because mainstream music these days are just so boring. So I've been checking out some podcasts featuring music by some independent artists. And i have to say, a lot of them produce wonderful songs. Some of these podcasts include 'Dave's Lounge' and 'Chillcast with Anji Bee'. They share some wonderful music from independent artists which you will never or rarely hear on mainstream radio.

So I've recently i stumbled across a track called "Come Undone" by Di Johnston. It was surprisingly good and after checking out her website and previewing her songs, i got to say she has talent. So if you're interested, you could also check out her website at www.dijohnston.com . Some other songs by Di Johnston worth checking out are "Segue" and "Trith".

So i woke up early in the morning, went to NUS and sent my precious ibook to the NUS Computer Center. They said it would take at least 3 to 4 weeks~! Or alternatively, i could go down to Toa Payoh service centre which MIGHT be faster. So i had to make my way down to TPY to look for the service centre. So after one whole day of hectic travelling, my ibook is finally warded into the icu. I might as well take this chance to make them change as many parts as possible =P

So now i'm laptopless. Kinda inconvenient coz now i can't online 24 hours a day since i'm sharing my desktop with my bro. Sigh...

Union Camp 2007

Ok this is my 4th union camp~!! Yippee~! But hey, i'm not the oldest k... **points at even older uncles who'd been thru 7 union camps** This year's camp was rather disappointing. Games were not fun and the entire planning wasn't really comprehensive. I shall not go into the details, just that when i walked out of Kent Ridge hall after the camp, i felt sucky. This is the first time i felt sucky after union camp. Goes very far to show how bad this year's camp was. That being said, the only thing holding the camp together are the councillors. Thank god, most of us are still crazy and hyper enough to bring the freshies thru this.

Went for the materials science commencement on thurs. It was really a mixed feeling thingey. Happy coz my friends are graduating, but at the same time sad coz from next sem onwards we'll not be seeing them for lectures anymore. The honours year cohort would have only about 16 pple left. Sometimes i wish i could graduate with them. I wonder if next year's commencement would be as happening as this year.

End of ICT

Hello everyone~! I'm back... 2 weeks of ICT is finally over. Phew. But after everything, it seems that i do miss my friends from the army. Meet up once a year, does feel a bit sad parting.

Ok, big plans for the day. Tonight we're going to shop for weihao's birthday present. Then he's gonna meet us around 2am at Janus' place so we could cut cake and celebrate him getting older. As per tradition, gifts are to be useless. What's the point of having something useful. It is the non-useful presents that are funny and interesting lol. But first, dinner... We actually wanted to go try the chinese buffet dinner at Miramar Hotel. BUT... none of us knows where it is. AND i really dun remember eating there ZK. You sure we ate there before ?? So we settled at Lao BeiJing at Plaza Singpura level 3 for their business set meal.

Glorious food. We had a 6 course dinner which includes chicken soup, roasted peking duck, shao mai, braised tofu, knife sliced noodleand tang yuan for dessert. The food is really not bad. In fact, it was great but the bill was also great as well lol. Close to $110 for 4 person (OUCH.. wasn't it suppose to be $18.90 per pax huh ??).

So next came the shopping. We tot that we should buy something that is useLESS. As far back as secondary sch days, i could remember such practices being carried out. For instance, we bought weihao a bottle of hair gel and a comb for his 16th birthday. Nothing wrong with that right? WRONG. He has no hair (botak lol). So it went on for the next 7 years. So this year we wanted to get him a roll of cloth with pokemon cartoon design but later decided to change it to something more kinky haha (shall not reveal wat we got for him eventually wahaha). Pretty useless but funny. Then came the cake. We decided to try something new. Something no one has done before. We decided to get him a chiffon cake for his birthday haha. So we made our way back to Janus' place. There was a heavy jam at serangoon road and it took ages to get home.

At first glance, i tot janus was driving with no hands (horrors). And ZK is happily wrapping weihao's birthday present with a set of TODAY newspaper (shit, not thick enough la... should have used the straits times haha).

Of course weihao's cake must be special and we tot a chiffon cake is not special enough. So TADA, the candles are so cool la. We can't help but laugh ourselves silly.

Then came the finale. We lit the candles and it was pretty cool haha... the cake almost caught fire i think lol

It's the time of the year. Reservist. Ok la, although go back should quite relax compared to NS days, but still, the tot of leaving behind your life and civilization is still saddening. Argh sianz...

Hanging out all my stuff to air lol... It's been stuck in my store room for almost one year le... Field pack, SBO, helmet, jungle hat, boots, and that brand new "SIA" army black bag haha.

All my bags are packed and i'm ready to go.

Well, its 2 weeks this time round. I guess i'll miss everyone. Thanks janus and jocelyn for the pasta and that old phone (non-camera) haha. The pasta wasn't that bad la.

Yes~!! I finally completed Kingdom Hearts. Yes i am slow, i know the game came out in 2002 lol. But oh well, its a fun game and i totally enjoyed myself. Took me about 1 month and was totally addicted, esp to the gummi ship battles. The game play was excellent, the storyline was captivating and the music was wonderful. A must play for any gamer out there lol, of course most of you would have already completed it years ago. YEAH... onwards to Kingdom Hearts II...

Happen to stumble upon this site which talks about the traits of each horoscope. It looks interesting and some of the points are quite true. So here i will put the comments in red if i disagree, and blue if i agree. Oh and green for comments that i'm not too sure myself either. Not to mention the amount of bubble tea we gulp down daily, which is enough to cause diabetes.

Was casually browsing through the iTunes music store few months ago when i happen to stumble upon this podcast called Dave's Lounge. Its a podcast that feature songs from non-mainstream musicians (independent musicians whom dun sign up with record labels but instead produce their own songs). The genres that the podcast consisted of are down-tempo, trip-hop, electronic and chill-out tunes. At first i was skeptical. How can any podcast contain any decent music. However, upon hearing what it had to offer, i was hooked. COMPLETELY. This was the genres that i was looking for. For years, i had been searching high and low for the music which i really liked. But none seem to click perfectly. That is until now. Now i have a direction. I know which genres i truely love. There are plenty of artist out there with good music that we don't hear on our radio. Its a pity. But yet it gives a sense of exclusivity, that this is my music. Mine alone, and no one elses. Yup, i've been a busy boy. Lab reports due, midterms to mug, projects to rush, surprise projects to rush faster. It's been hell, and still is. But despite not making any post for the past few weeks, i've been slowly adding new stuff to my blog. For instance, the character of the month has been upated, i've added things to my wishlist (hint hint), added a new section recommending some songs which i think are darn cool. And once again, there's music playing on the background of my blog. So hurray....

2 Weeks of Feasting

Hurray its Chinese New Year and boohoo to my gastric flu. All thanks to the Ramly burger which made my delightful feasting sessions not so delightful (applicable to Rounds 2 to 8 only).

8 Buffets/steamboats in 2 weeks....

Round One - 8th Feb (thurs)
Angel recommended this restaurant called Family International at Tampines Mall. It took over the Pariss outlet there. The food maintained its predecessor's standard and is at a much lower price of about $24 per pax. So being the food crazy people that we are, we went.

Round Two - 13th Feb (Tues)
Ok, its the materials science department dinner with our profs and seniors. Its a buffet session outside LT31 lol. Sadly, the juniors were not invited as the school drew a very clear line between Materials Science and Materials Engineering students, which i think is a dumb idea.

Round Three - 16rd Feb (Fri)
Alright ~!! Its the materials science Chinese New Year reunion dinner. We had it at Xian De Lai steamboat restaurant which is opposite Bugis Junction. The food is not bad and we enjoyed ourselves. Oh, and it so happens that the 12 of us are made up 6 pairs of lab partners. Can you guess whose lab partner is who lol.

Round Four - 17th Feb (Sat)
Ok, so had my reunion dinner at this restaurant called Lao Bei Jing with my family and relatives at Plaza Singapura. Since a few years ago, we started going to this restaurant. The food is quite nice though i feel it had dropped in standard compared to a few years back when we started going there for dinners.

Round Five - 18th Feb (Sun)
Happy CNY~!! As per every year, i went to my grandmother's place to bai nian. Had buffet lunch there. As usual, the food is not a let down, with all my aunties bringing in their specialty dishes, how can anyone miss it.

Round Six - 21nd Feb (Wed)
Went out with my secondary school pals (Janus, Weihao, Leckkoon and Weilun... Melvyn was no where to be found and Zengkun is somewhere in New York) to chomp chomp for dinner. Weilun is flying back to Beijing and Leckkoon back to Australia soon, so we had a get together before everyone starts flying again. Actually, the food that day was a let down. All the better stalls were closed probably due to post CNY celebrations. We had to settle for BBQ sting-rays that seemed dehydrated and have shrunk in size. The chicken wings were overcooked resulting in a lot of burnt spots. SIGH... Total let down...

Round Seven - 22nd Feb (Thurs)
Went to felix's house to bai nian. Ate steamboat there with the materials science pple. Didn't eat a lof though as i'll be going to Wenhui's house later for a PRU seniors gathering. Played a bit of Mahjong (no moeny involved) before i left.

Round Eight - 22nd Feb (Thurs) AGAIN
Left felix's house at 4 plus and rushed from hougang to choa chu kang. Wenhui's house wasn't that hard to find as it's just opposite my old army camp. Had steamboat dinner and play mahjong with Shanshan, Cheryl and Huiching. This is the first game i played in the new year which involves money. Not bad, at least i made some earnings to cover my cab fare back home lol.

And so here they are, 8 feast in 2 weeks. I'm amazed by myself. Even with that horrible gastric flu, i still managed to pull it off. Now, for the coming weeks, its time to nurse my gastric flu away, and get ready for more good food wahahaa

V-Bash 07

I miss my bash comm.

Exactly 1 week ago this time, we're PGP publicising V-bash. Staying over till late nights preparing for the bash. All the sweat and effort, its unforgettable. For the past one month, we've been working non-stop, sticking up the posters, pasting the small "v"s on the ceiling, the big "V"s around NUS, the banner, the arrows, the roses, the kidnaps, the peugeot cars parading NUS, the 2 weeks of non-stop booths and the constant running about in NUS. After all these, i suddenly don't want the bash to end. Although during these times i wished that it'd be over soon, the feeling vanished the second the bash ended. I miss all of my friends. I miss the times we work together. I miss V-Bash.

Talk About Coincidence

Ok, was busy in school preparing for bash. So its bash bash bash bash and more bash stuff till about 6 plus in the evening. Took bus 151 home coz i wanted to watch DeathNote anime on my way home (and also because i preferred the slower pace of bus rides). So as usual, i transitted at the bus stop at MacPherson area.

So i was kinda stoning into the air, listening to my iPod while waiting for bus 62. Then a sudden movement beside me caught my attention. I saw a girl walked towards the bus stop and turned around facing away from me. I only managed to catch a glimpse of her face and could not really recognised her, although she does look a lot like Wispie. As she was on the phone, i didn't want to interrupt her, so i waited. Gosh she does have a lot to talk on the phone hahaha. So we boarded the bus and still she didnt notice me (at least i think she didn't) until i waved in front of her (and yes, by then i've confirmed she's wispie).

So I was quite amazed by this. The chance of meeting anyone i know along a random bus stop is very slim especially when we have different starting points and destination. Resembles life a lot. We all have our own beginnings and yet, despite the slim chances, some of our lives will intertwine in the most unexpected ways. Although most will part ways again, the fact that in a crowd of billions of people, the lives of 2 person crossing paths is remarkably rare. Hence we should treasure every encounter for they are precious.

Finished watching "The Holiday" a few days ago. Really felt something there. Somehow, i think i can relate to the characters in the show. It's been 2 years already. Oh gosh, do i really have to wait for 3 years, like in the show, before realising what i should have done in the first place? Or should i still hold on to the very little hope that i have, praying that things will work out well in the end. It's really an irritating feeling. Somehow i wished i could just make a decision to end it and move on. Just throw everything away, move to some remote place where no one knows you and spend the quiet christmas by yourself sipping hot chocolate by a warm fire place with a good book and a pet dog (or in my case a cat). Yet some part of me kept me back, tugging me to stay on and tempting me with hope.

Was having lunch at a new restaurant along Citylink called New York New York 2 weeks ago. The food is excellent. The portions are huge and the price is reasonable. Had a Rotisserie Spring Chicken. At first glance, the picture in the menu made the chicken looked small. When the chicken came, it was huge. WOW. The moment i start cutting the chicken, juice start to flow out flooding my plate. I had to save my fries and salad from the flooding juices. Oh my GOSH, its so amazing. The chicken was tender and aromatic. I must go back and try it again.

6 tablespoons of Olive Oil
2 tablespoons of Apple Cider Vinegar

Fate / Hollow Ataraxia

Just finished watching Fate /Stay Night a few months ago and it's really quite a nice anime. It's just a pity that the story didn't really developed. It had the potential to be a 50 episode series coz of it's complexity and vast amounts of characters involved. Instead they chose to make it a 24 episode anime and rushed through many of the concepts in the show. Nonetheless, it's still a good anime and i would still recommend it.

Was at city hall area in the morning shopping. I just love the feeling of being able to walk thru the streets without the bustling crowds. Just felt so peaceful and pleasant. Anyway, i had a $20 voucher to expand and the expiry date for the voucher is surprise surprise today. So, bought a few t-shirts, a packet of basil for my Bruschetta and a few bottles of FORBIDDEN FRUIT.

I first head ofForbidden Fruit from yunjie. It's a beer under the Hoegaarden Brewery which also makes the famous Hoegaarden Witbier. The full name of the beer is Verboden Vrucht and it's given very very high ratings. As for me, i'm now sipping away the beer as i typed this entry and i can tell you this beer rocks. Its much stronger than its witbier cousin (and it's 8.5% in alcohol content which is considered quite high) but has this very refreshing taste to it. 2 thumbs up for this bottle. BURP

Below is a picture of a wrecked Turbo Molecular Pump. It's originally used to obtain ultra high vacuum of about 10E-9 Torr (or about 10E-7 Pascal) in a vacuum chamber. However, from the picture we can see the rotors and slators had crashed. Possibly from an overload of gas input. This mean that it is unable to function anymore. That's $25000 down the drain. So enjoy this pic while you can coz the next pic of another wrecked TMP will cost another $25000 lol.

2 Years of PRU

I said before i was going to retire from PRU and lead a mugger life in NUS... but that doesn't seem to be the case. Now, i'm still in the midst of setting up and gearing up the newly proposed media team which is suppose to be my successor. The team includes Jocelyn, Huiyu, Giles and Brenda which is led by our fearless Media Team head Adeline. I have much hope in this team as they have progressed rather well for the past 3 meetings producing incredible designs. So does this mean i can retire in peace??

Brand new ibook

Yeah... but no. Didnt get a new laptop. Just reformatted my old ibook. Now its working like brand new with 2 "new" programs installed. Darn the computer centre uncle for being lazy and not installing the 2nd installation disc of my OS X 10.3. Deprived me of 1.5 years of GarageBand and iDVD. Kept me thinking that those 2 programs came with OS X 10.4...

Most Improved Standing Committee (I just dun understand the meaning of this award. Since last year we got 'Best Standing Committee Award' and if this year we are the most improved, doesnt it make us the best committee again?? So why arent we the best standing committee this year. I dun mind NVAC getting the award but the way exco handles it makes my blood boil. What i feel is that exco is trying to give us this "consolation" prize. For goodness sake, we dun need this "consolation" prize. You either give the best standing committee award to us or you dun . Dun shove any tom dick or harry prize to us just to pacify us. We dun need it. Oh gosh, this is so insulting.... i must stress again.. INSULTING~!!!! Pifff

No matter what, PRU will always be the best standing committee in my heart. The sweat, blood and tears we shed; the friendships that were forged; the joys and laughters we shared; the late nights we spent working; the crazy moments we had. This is what makes us so unique and successful, and this is why we are the best standing committee. No one can refute that and no one can take away that success from us. We are PRU.

So after the dinner, we went to Eski Bar at Holland Village where they have this room which is -10 degrees celsius cold. So the crazy pple of PRU will start to play stupid games like "who dares win" where we tried to stay inside the cold room as long as possible. Last person standing wins haha.

It Died On Me Today

Oh man. My handphone died one me today. Not sure wat is going on but it just likes to shut down by itself. Maybe a battery problem. But well, nonetheless my phone is about 1.5 years old and its time to change it soon. One phone that i was eyeing for quite a while is the chocolate phone. Here's a pic on it.

Damn cool right. Functionality wise, it has a 1.3 megapix camera. 128 internal memory but no ext card slots (means 128mb of storage only). Video, camera, bluetooth, IR and the standard package as with most new phones. Clear and loud speakers for calls and ringtones. Bright and clear display. And of course, killer looks.

However, i'm still looking out for any other phones that might interest me, so this is only one of the options. Probably getting my new phone around end this year. (hint hint christamas lol)

Am i dead? Yep, more or less i guess. Attachment has started picking up its pace and i'm busy everyday. Adding in the birthday celebrations here and there, plus, my presentation which is coming at the end of this week, i'm busier than ever.

So i'm here to tok about what not to eat. As many of you would know, the shop that once sold chong pang nasi lemak behind NUS is now gone (yes the one between foong seng and cheese prata shop). In place of it is a new noodles restaurant and here's my take on it when i went to eat last fri.

Service 3/10...
the waitress gave us black face lo. and our meals came without utensils. 3 was because at least the waitress gave us our utensils after our request that our meals should come with utensils so that we can eat using it. and 3 is because she gave us a blacker face, if the word blacker even existed. Oh and they even demanded to see our reciepts when they got the orders mixed up. DEMANDED leh. They could have asked nicely lo. And not all "mixed-up order" food belongs to us even though we have like 10+ pple there.

Food 1/10...
No need to explain lo. Try it if you dun believe. I ordered beef fried rice and i can't finish it (rare like hell). its like plain rice with beef that has no flavour accompanied with beans and carrots that taste like they are frozen in the fridge with egg floss that taste like flour with yellow colouring. Cheryl ordered yangzhou fried rice. She tried one mouthful of it and the plate was left untouch forever and ever. We also ordered GuoTie, Xiaolongbao, which half of it was left untouched as well. I can't say much about the noodles coz i never tried it before. But wat i can say is that i'll never go back and try lo.

Ambience 2/10
What can i say. Typical foong seng area ambience. Oh did i mention the place inside was aircon-ed. And why are we sitting outside ah? Its not like its exploded inside with dying crowds trying to taste their food. it's just that no one even bothered to serve us. So we ended up sitting outside. (Aiyah, the staff just plain lazy to move the heavy tables inside, outside lighter but even then, we moved it ourselves -_-")

Total score... need to calculate meh. Gone case le...

NUS Breakers

Recently i got conscripted into the NUS breakers committee. Haha, no lah kidding. I volunteered my services actually. But then as Jeremiah said, "we should really start to stay away from NUSSU secretariat and find a new hang out spot, or else see people do things, hands will start to get itchy also." It seems i can never refuse an offer to help out. Even if i did refuse, i would start to feel bad and thought if i should have went on to help. Ok, to those who are reading, please do not be afraid to ask me to help out coz i really don't mind helping, especially PRU stuff. Afterall, PRU is also my sweat and blood.

That being said, been staying in school till 11pm plus this past week doing Breakers stuff. Mainly publicity materials such as standee designs, website, folding cranes etc. Not to mention the arcade sessions with janus and jeremiah haha. Though i must admit it is darn tiring, but still, it is fun to be part of a large project with your friends. So all of your people out there reading my blog must come for NUS Breakers 2006 ah. We're going to break the Singapore Book of Records and the Guinness Book of Records by drinking Milo (yes, all you can drink free) and folding cranes (every crane folded will help benefit charity as well).

The only sample that succeeded (out of 3) yesterday was stuck on to the container cap today when i was opening the container. It dropped on the floor. It was lost forever. -_-

Found the "lost" sample beside a box on the floor. Attempted to pick it up using a pair of tweezers but it jumped off my tweezer halfway between the floor and table top and was lost forever and ever. -_-"

Got stabbed by a ultra fine pair of tweezers. My palm is now aching. When i pulled out the tweezer, there's a "squish" sound. I estimated it was at least 1 cm deep in. Ouch.... >_<

Union Camp

Back from the 1 week of union camp. Due my attachment which started last week, i was unable to join the camp. But i did manage to crash David's group which is called "Ulalaa". Ok, so i work in the day at DSI, and hop over to Kent Ridge Hall where UC06 is held. Dun ask me why i so want to join the camp. I personally dun know why either. Maybe perhaps its because Union Camp was the very first thing i did when i enter NUS. Made many good friends, and had many wonderful memories. It paved way for me joining PRU, which is totally unexpected because i actually intended not to join any CCAs. From then on, my life in NUS was almost never boring. It broke me free from the mundane routines of lecture, tutorials and home. Maybe i just wanted to relive the experience. The unexplainable joy of being part a OG. The bond that the group shares and the common goal of the group - to enjoy life to fullest and win the best OG along the way.

Looking back now at the current batch of freshmen really reminded me of my freshmen days in UC, even the location is the same as the camp 2 years ago. The victories and loses during the camp, the endless chatters on the roof top of Kent Ridge Hall and the endless silly games we play till day break. Although we didnt sleep much, despite the tiredness, we still pressed on and had a blast which i find no other camps could ever give. The sudden depression after coming back from camp this afternoon made me finally realise that Union Camp '04, the one when i was a freshmen, was indeed the happiest moment of my life in NUS.

Save Brown

This week had been a disturbing week. For those who know, Mr Brown wrote an article on the 30th Jun titled "Singaporeans are fed, up with progress" which caused the Press Secretary to the Minister for Information, Communications and the Arts to rebute calling Mr Brown someone who "distorts the truth" and "he offers no alternatives or solutions". Soon after, his column in TODAY was suspended. From what i see, Mr Brown was just expressing his opinions on what is happening around and this is what he gets. Mind you that most of the things he wrote are true and even if he doesn't offer any solution, it is the RIGHT of a citizen to express his views and give feedbacks. If we were expected to give feedbacks AND solutions, then what is the use of having all those highly paid ministers.

Truth is, the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer. Progress Package doesn't solve anything. It is an easy way out by just throwing money, but it is definitely not the solution to the problem. I've actually seen and known people who are not at all well off and actually pass away because they can't afford medical treatments. It's not because their family members didn't do anything but its just simply they can't. Everywhere they turn is a dead end. So is the Progress Package of any use?? Is rising cost a mystery? Touch your heart and tell me if what Mr Brown said is true or false.

I really feel disheartened by what is happening. Especially how the people up there are trying to silence voices of the public. It is not as if what Mr Brown had said was untrue. It's just not pleasant to the ears of the powers-that-be.

Excuse me but this is, in 2 simple words, FUCKED UP...

It's amazing how time can change a lot of things. You may have once knew, once loved or even once had someone who was so dear to you only to find after years of being apart, become total strangers. The distance might not be physical. Conversations occasionally still went on. But the person on the other side might had turned into someone totally unrecognisable. What you once knew, might not hold true anymore. What you once shared might exist no more. So what is certain? Nothing really.

Army Daze

Ok, i'm back from reservist. Tired even though i didnt do much. Had a map planning exercise for the first 3 days and basically slacked for the last 2 days. I guess the "wait to rush and rush to wait" style in the army is causing the weariness. So glad that i'm out of it.

Oh yeah, i injured my poor back as well. Got a docter to check it out and its nothing serious. No slip disc and no fracture. A couple of ponstan, a few weeks of rest and i should be back to normal. If not, i guess i should get it checked out again and who knows, i might even get a downgrade hahaha.

Ok, so i caught up with a few friends back in ICT, had a little chit chat. Guess we all missed the days back when we're in Australia. The days where canned food and maggie mee are our favourite food out in the field. Watching Lord of the Rings and playing mahjong in the midst of nowhere on a 5 Tonner. And lying on the jungle grounds gazing up in the skies with all the shiny stars and constellations that we'll never get to see in Singapore. Oh, not to mention the huge portions of beef steaks and the almost free flow wine during our R&R trip in Rockhampton. Gosh, makes me want to go back again. Alright, maybe i'll skip the first part of the stay which is ATEC (something like a mock warfare which we're assessed on) , but the 2nd half of my stay was really really one of the best experiences in my life.

Alright, so army does has it wonderful memories. Maybe the 2 years and 4 months was not a total waste of time. But then again, i would not want to go through it again given the chance lol. So for now 9 ICTs left till ROD. YoohooOO~!!

No more EIC

Ok, don't panic. Remain really calm. Yes, EIC is no longer performing at timbre. I was shock to find that out on tues - 1 day before the matsci gang went to timbre. Okok, before people start shooting themselves, apparently what i heard from cheryl is that Jack, one of the lead vocals, went off to Boston to study for 3 months. So yes, hopefully EIC be back in 3 months time. Sigh, really spoilt my day.

So the outing went on as usual, KTV in the morning, followed by Da Vinci code. KTV was fun~!! Havent sang for quite a while, so really enjoyed myself. BUT, Da Vinci code was boring. Especially so if you had read the book. Really really the watered down version of it.

Ok, after the movies, we chilled out at Spinelli outside Hereens for a couple of hours then moved off to timbe for dinner and more chilling out. Replacing EIC on the Wednesday slot if a band called Yellowbox. Ok, i'll be honest, i still prefer EIC heh. Not that Yellowband is no good or what, but i just don't feel the mood, and wonderwall somehow sounded like a lullaby haha. Ok, now i shall await EIC's return. 3 months and counting lol.....

Had tea last thursday with Wispie at the TCC in City Link. Its been a long while but it felt good. To be able to chill out amidst the busy crowd of the Singapore streets. Ok, its not much of a street but it was busy. Just sitting there having a nice cup of coffee, chatting and looking at people hurry to and fro. Makes oneself feel that for once, you have pulled yourself out of the fast pace life of society and taking time to enjoy the finer things in life - friendship and coffee.

Been kinda tired planning stuff.

Few years back (say 5), i was very enthusiatic about this kinda of outings and planning it. The joy and satisfaction that accompanies it was great. However, as years goes by, the weariness sets in. Discouragements and failures often blinded the now insignificant success. People may wonder, why isn't Kelvin planning anything? Truth is, i feel my temper has took a turn a turn for the worse. More hot-tempered and impatient. As such, i tend to get irritated quite easily. Esp when it comes to "oh, can we do this instead??" or how a MOVIE X outing can turn into a MOVIE Y outing when i totally have no intention of watching MOVIE Y. Its not that i mind watching it, i will watch it and probably enjoy it at the end of the day if its good, but i did took the effort to plan a MOVIE X outing for a reason -- to watch MOVIE X. So this disheartens me to plan more outings.

Was out cycling with the MatSci gang last tues. Met up at Bedok MRT around 1 plus then headed out for lunch. Was on the bike by 330pm after we found angel stranded on the other end of east coast haha. So the day went on, cycled from end to end. What really caught my attention however was this sign just beside the entrance of the bedok jetty. It read:

And no its not a joke, it is really there physically. Was utterly amazed by it. How could anyone have thought of such acronyms (or initialism depending on how you read them). Singaporeans never fail to amaze me with their endless creativity. And how can there be a pitless bbq pit at East Coast. I might as well just BBQ at sch or somewhere else which was what we did last week. I mean, pple go to east coast coz the pit is already there right?? I havent really checked out the "pitless pits" yet but i might pop by one day to take a look if i happen to go cycling again.

MatSci BBQ

Ok, the long awaited Materials Science BBQ is finally here. Thanks to Siaoting who planned most of the details and ordered most food haha. Most of you would probably be thinking that the venue is at east coast or pasir ris or someone's place. NO. Its at our very own NUS Faculty of Science Carpark lol. I was quite amaze by it as well. Never thought that we could have a bbq there.

So after everything was prepared and ready to go, we started bbq-ing.

Oh and throughout the bbq, we had excellent satay thanks to our "satay man" choong sen. The way he "peng" our satay is like some expert satay vendor like that. Just look at his pro-ness.

Of course we have some of our lecturers (left) with us and Prof Li had the opportunity to tell us that bbq is also about PHASE TRANFORMATION.

Ok, just in case some of you still do not believe that we had our bbq in sch carpark, i can PROVE it. If you just refer to the picture above, you will realise that the building S11 is prominently displayed. You might ask "Can meh? Can BBQ at carpark ?" Of course the answer is cannot lah. And of course there is a CCTV camera at the car park, but well, no one came to catch us.

So by the end of the bbq session we're left with tons of food which Mervyn would have the priviledge to mop it up coz he had attachment and had to come late. Just look at his excited face.

I-ling brought along some very nice jellies. I think they're of sellable standards and it really tasted quite good.

Ok end of BBQ, this is a photo of half the cohort of Materials Science. Yes we're a small batch. I think about 30-ish in total.

Was looking through my bookshelf and i came across a book which i bought last year. Its the complete set of Hitchhikers guide. I guess i'll start reading it since i finally finish angels and demons. Took me forever to finish man haha.

Still remember when i was in the army, i read the first book. It's really very interesting as they fuse comedy and science fiction in it. Well, i must admit the movie kinda suck, but really, the book is a must read. It was the number one selling book in UK....... during 1979 lol. But really, the book is really interesting and it brings u new ways to see life and everything in the universe.

Yes, its my birthday today. No there is no cake. Just my notes, my coke light and my reciever with me thru this cold and lonely birthday. Sitting at the void deck blowing the cold cold wind and trying hard to concentrate on the notes... BUT... sigh... i cant concentrate. Very sianz... Luckily, there's a bunch of sms that kept me awake and happy. Thanks for all the lovely birthday wishes and sms. Really appreciate it. Thanx. And thanx to my matsci gang for the birthday card i recieved haha. Really brightened my day though i still dun understand y u guys want me to "duo chi duo chi" (eat more). Dun worry, i won't starve myself. In fact, the more stress i get, the more i eat lol.

Recently, i've started watching DCJ (go guess whats that lol). Really love and hate the show. Love it because it is really very touching, sad and at the same time happy. The plot is excellent. The show really brings u to your tears or unspeakable joy. Hate it because now, i can't live without it lol. Ever since i got the DVD set, i've been watching episode after episode. Non-stop. I'd told myself 2 episodes per day, but it always ends up to 4 - 5 episodes lol.

So now, someone important is going to die... And you can guess that i'm quite sad over it. Really quite amazed. Never in my life have i been so emotionally attached to a show. Well, i'm almost half way through and the plot is getting more and more intense. SOMEBODY PLS STOP ME ~!! lol

So now its time to sleep... Gosh... 5 episodes today... i really need to do something about it... exams are coming... BUT the plot just keeps swirling in my mind. I kept on thinking what would happen next. What evil schemes will the evil people plot. Ans how will the good guys survive (or sometimes not). Oh well, i'll just watch on and find out.

Overall, i give DCJ 9.5 out of 10... the reason why its not 10 out of 10 is that some times it really gets draggy. Not that i'm compaining... i've seen worse. But sometimes the temptation of knowing what happens next is always irritated by the draggy i-stare-at-you-and-you-stare-at-me scenes.. Hmm, maybe its to build up the suspense and emotions... I dunno. i'm just too hooked to say anything bad lol

So anyone who wants to watch DCJ, i will tell them go ahead (its really a nice show.. no reason why not) but prepare yourselves for the huge emotional baggages u will carry around for the duration of viewing. Really, its no joke ^^

Oh, if you still dunno wats DCJ... u should check out wats the hot thing on channel U everynight now ^^

Yeah, i'm back.. but just for a short post only... got a term paper due and i'm just starting. Yep, just went thru an interview with DSI for a place for my PPP (professional placement programme). Tell you the interview was like a grilling session on how much stuff i know. Scared the hell out of me manz... BUT i just recieved a phone call today that I'VE MADE IT~!!! woohoo... i actually manage to pass the interview. Kinda happy coz i have interview phobia... screwed up the last interview i had which was about 3 years ago. So yeah again~!!

So what have i been up to the past 3 months ah... wah lots of stuff manz... got bash, got open house, got mid terms, and of course my Japanese Language module which has been taking up most of my time.

Well, i gotta go... darn tired... おやすみなさい~!!
